Ian Schick Presents on AI in Patent Prosecution at the Rocky Mountain IP & Technology Institute

Ian Schick co-presented on AI in patent prosecution at the 24th Annual Rocky Mountain IP & Technology Institute, alongside Michael Binns of Meta.

Paximal co-founder and CEO Ian Schick, PhD, Esq, presented on AI in patent prosecution at the 24th Annual Rocky Mountain Intellectual Property & Technology Institute, hosted by the Colorado Bar Association on May 28–29, 2026.

The Rocky Mountain IP & Technology Institute is one of the region’s premier IP education events, drawing practitioners from firms, companies, and government for two days of programming on the most pressing issues in patent, trademark, and technology law.

Ian co-presented with Michael Binns of Meta, pairing a platform builder’s perspective with an in-house view of how AI is changing patent prosecution in practice. The session examined the questions now facing prosecutors: how AI affects claim scope and amendment strategy, how to maintain quality and oversight, and what “quality” even means once drafting is no longer the bottleneck.

That last point is core to Paximal’s “Born Strong” approach — the conviction that as drafting gets faster and cheaper, the durable advantage shifts to applications engineered to perform under examination.

We’re grateful to the Colorado Bar Association for the invitation and to Michael Binns for a sharp, candid conversation.
